(AP) - The Federal Bureau of Land Management is seeking nominations to fill three vacancies on the national Wild Horse and Burro Advisory Board.
The board advises the BLM and the U.S. Forest Service on the management, protection, and control of wild, free-roaming horses and burros on public lands administered by those two agencies.
The nine members on the advisory board are appointed to represent a balance of interests. Each member must have the expertise needed to provide advice on various issues, including natural resources and wildlife management.
Any individual or organization may nominate a person, and individuals may also nominate themselves.
Federal and state government employees are not eligible for the board, whose members serve three-year terms.
The BLM manages more than 33,000 wild horses and burros in 10 Western states.
